Exploring Linked Open Data for Off-Off-Broadway

Off-Off-Data network visualization by Thomas Kiedrowski, 2018.

Founded in 1961 by Ellen Stewart, La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club was a refuge for Avant Garde and independent performance.  The theatre club was Stewart’s vision for creating a space where artists, writers, actors, musicians, and dancers collaborated and produced projects which served the community in New York City and later, across the globe.  Her perspective was fueled by the belief that collaboration leads to connection and that art communicates to all and opens paths to understanding. Her vision is in line with the beliefs behind the tenants of Linked Open Data (LOD): community, collaboration, and understanding.

The Off-Off Data (OOD) project will seek to extend research navigation and discovery of material in various collections and connect the material to the study of theatre, specifically the downtown theatre groups and movement of 1960s Off-Off-Broadway.
