Our project considered the benefits and innovation linked open data has on museum collections. We reviewed how LOD structures can be used to leverage and unite museum collections by examining how LOD works, what museum projects utilize LOD, and considered future possibilities in our individual research. For instance, Thomas Kiedrowski framed his perspective of LOD as a means to “sharing the public good” in art and whether or not that is generally perceived as a good/bad thing with implications that society will be able to not only enjoy art itself but increase the cultural meaning for generations to come. Richard Goldstein explored using LOD to encourage discursive navigation through art museums by linking works to their iconographic content, inspired by the work of Abby Warburg. In this way, involving navigation of physical space and actual artworks through LODLAM development brings the data project full circle back into our tactile world to enrich and expand phenomenological experience.
