This project was conducted to determine if there were noticeable differences in population counts or distribution of songbird species before and after the 2020 Covid pandemic by mapping and analyzing public data of springtime songbird sightings in Manhattan from 2018 to 2022. After downloading bird watching data from eBird, a project run by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, we performed statistical analysis on the data to extract patterns of bird migration across Manhattan. We then turned this analysis into a visual StoryMap where users can directly explore the data.
