Not every music event is as disastrous as Woodstock ‘99, but there are a number of problem areas for sustainability in music… and opportunities for sustainable design. For this project for Sustainable Interaction Design, I focused on product design to “nudge” touring musicians in the electronic music scene toward more sustainable practices.

The end products of this solo research and product design project, completed as a final project for Pratt Institute’s Sustainable Interaction Design course, were interactive prototypesa sitemap, a persona and user journey map, and a polished presentation of the process and results.

After studying sociology and media studies as an undergraduate, they spent the last decade working in the tech industry. With a critical but optimistic eye toward technology, they are particularly interested in exploring what it looks like to build strong, intentional communities and systems of support (both online and offline) outside of corporate control, and building meaningful connections in an increasingly stressful and exploitative attention economy.
