A prototype of a (hypothetical) re-design of the website for the Archive of Contemporary Music (ARC) guided by the principles of user-centered design. We utilized several techniques to gain a better understanding of potential site visitors and how they might interact with the site. User research in the form of online surveys, interviews, user observations, personas, and user flows helped us refine our understanding of the current site’s limitations and needs for improvement in terms of its targeted users. A card sort was also conducted to gain perspective into patterns of content organization and labeling, which informed a revised site map that would guide our design sketches, wireframes, and ultimately this high-fidelity interactive prototype.
We will demonstrate our final high-fidelity prototype (available here: http://entropyalwayswins.com/ARC/) with additional deliverables created as part of our user-centered design process. These materials will include our site map, user research report, personas and scenarios, card sorting results, sketches, and wireframes.
