An important aspect of intellectual and political history, literature is intrinsically influx, taking on new values throughout time. The influence of authors over each other is an integral part of its evolution/progression. While influential connections are a key factor in piecing together defining characteristics of an author, an influence network can supplement research on the components of an author’s oeuvre. Although the curation of the network was solely made up of literary authors, in some cases, SPARQL queries returned the influence of songwriters, philosophers and psychologists. The goal of the network was to include a representable portion of influential authors in order to collect communities based on their influence of and by each other. While the color-based modularity partitions represent only 19 communities housing approximately 1000 authors, the graph reinforces the prominence of influential ties within the literary world.
