Using Interactive Maps to Visualize the Relationship between Food and Empire in the Early Modern Era
This engaging digital exhibit combines custom interactive maps with 17th-century cookbooks to communicate the concrete relationship between food and empire that fueled the rapid expansion of global trade, expansion, exploration, and extraction in the early modern era.
In this presentation, Julia, Janis and Eirini present on 2 LGBT history archiving efforts. The first is digitization of “Lesbian Nation,” a broadcast radio program from 1972-1974 created by Martha Shelley during the early years following the Stonewall Riots. The second is Gay Morning America, an morning TV program broadcast on public television during the early years of the AIDS epidemic. Both projects highlight challenges as well as opportunities to preserve and make accessible this broadcast content.
Treaties are living documents that link Native American Nations with the Federal Government of the United States, and their multifaceted conditions continue to raise numerous questions in our post colonial age. A combination of multiple word frequencies attempt to provide further insight in treaties with 142 Native American Nations.
