“The Pratt Institute Libraries mission is to provide outstanding service and access to a resource-rich environment that facilitates critical thinking and creative teaching and learning in the Pratt community.”
Therefore an important goal is to provide resources and services in the most effective way possible to their patrons by leveraging their web presence to streamline the library experience. With this motivation, they are proceeding with a redesign of The Pratt Institute Libraries website. One key focus of the redesign is the EBSCO Discovery Service. Also referred to as “EDS,” this is visible as a search box on the site’s home page, where users begin their search for sources of all kinds, available at Pratt and elsewhere.
The goal of this research project was to track the overall usage of the Discovery Service and measure results against parameters of success set by the Digital Services Librarian. To achieve this, user interaction data collected in Google Digital Analytics was visualized in a Google Data Studio dashboard, where segments and filter options were applied to analyze Discovery Service data for a two-week period (from April 15th to April 29th, 2019).
