If you were to visit the homes of 10 people in New York City, what chairs would you find? The characteristics that shape our lives are unique, molded by our individual needs and preferences.
Do our digital homes, hallmarking flexibility, accurately depict our uniqueness as well as they should?

The concept of personalization in digital product design is becoming increasingly important as we spend more of our time in the digital world. Traditional design practices have focused on creating a cohesive product that functions for the majority of users, but this approach is being questioned as software and web reach new level of complexity. Personalization and inclusive design practices consider the uniqueness of the user and offer benefits in terms of usability, accessibility, branding, and taste preferences. The next wave of design will likely consider personalization on a more granular level, creating fluid interfaces that react to an individual’s needs, situation, and preference. In this presentation we will explore the future of UI personalization, touching on design systems as a fundamental tool for designers to create flexible systems.
