This project is a processing plan and a finding aid for records pertaining to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. St. Joseph’s Church was a religious institution located in the Lower East Side of NYC. It opened in 1923 and operated until 2014, when it merged with the Church of the Transfiguration as part of a restructuring effort targeting New York City churches. St. Joseph’s served the local Italian and Chinese communities, and offered masses in English, Italian, and Chinese dialects. The St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Records offer an overview of the administrative, financial, and community activities of a diverse Catholic parish.
