As the two Web Archiving Fellows for The Frick Reference Library & NYARC, Anna Collins and Ellis Mikelić present a poster on how web archiving is a critical practice that ensures the long-term access and preservation of born-digital media. With the limited lifespan of websites, web archiving allows for the content to be accessed as close to its originally intended state as possible. From a cultural heritage perspective, web preservation is crucial for future generations to access materials solely available online and understand the evolution of digital media. Since web archiving starts at the point of creation for a website, our poster also offers tips on how to make your website easily archivable, suggests tools and best practices for a successful capture, and discusses how these considerations align with accessibility standards for the web.
