In this presentation, Ali Post, Amy Rupert and Alan Webber will present on the work of digitizing audiovisual collections from the Lesbian Herstory Archives. They will discuss the formats encountered and digitized, including U-Matic video, 1/4″ open-reel audio, bound oral history transcripts, and a multimedia film strip. They will discuss the work completed, challenges encountered and overcome, in working with these audiovisual records from the 20th century documenting the LGBTQ community.
Amy Rupert
Amy Rupert is an archivist, currently working at the personal collection of writer and translator Vincent Katz. Her research interests include information literacy, collection development in special collections, and all aspects of rare books. She holds a BA in History from Columbia University and an MLIS from Pratt Institute. She hopes to one day see every library in all of NYC.
