I'll be completing my MSLIS in December 2019 with an emphasis in Youth, Literacy, and Outreach. I currently work as a Middle School librarian in Brooklyn, as well as a research assistant for the IMLS-funded "Exploring Data Worlds" project. My professional interests include digital & data literacy; expanding inclusivity and cultural competency in library youth services, and teaching the act of reading as a community, and empathy-building experience. In my spare time, I facilitate projects with the Prison Library Support Network.
This presentation will describe the two workshops (on data literacy and zines) that were facilitated as part of Brooklyn Public Library’s Librarians of Tomorrow teen internship program. Content will include information on the program, the workshop planning and implementation process, and evaluation material we received from project participants.
