Cartographical data is one of early topics of visualization.\u00a0TimelineJS is an open-source tool that allows users create interactive timelines. For this assignment, I followed basic guidelines of TimelineJS, filling data into pre-defined the Google Spreadsheet template. Original resources are from &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.datavis.ca\/milestones\/\">Milestones in the history of thematic cartography, statistical graphics, and data visualization<\/a>&#8221; by Michael Friendly and Daniel Denis.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Process<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Open the Google Spreadsheet template.<\/li>\n<li>In the resource website, I picked only cartography history data from the milestone. Details\u00a0and images are shown by clicking each event on the milestone graph.<\/li>\n<li>Fill out required fields. The first slide is a title page, which doesn&#8217;t require timeframe data.<\/li>\n<li>Copy the url of the spreadsheet, and paste to generate the timeline.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Result<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Click <a href=\"https:\/\/cdn.knightlab.com\/libs\/timeline3\/latest\/embed\/index.html?source=1ih-wlungWZnlqGI8lvYBjRL8_E4WymqGqaTXXZw_lTw&amp;font=Default&amp;lang=en&amp;initial_zoom=2&amp;height=650\">here<\/a> to see the result.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h2><strong>Discussion of future directions<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>TimelineJS is a great tool to show small number of data points, especially datapoint that occur in a sequential order.
