Google Sheets were used in order to organize the data collected from Baseball Reference and used to export the data to Tableau<\/li>\n<li>Open Refine \u2013 Open Refine was used in order to clean up some of the data collected from Baseball Reference<\/li>\n<li>Tableau \u2013 Tableau was used to process the data and create the charts used for this study.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/teams\/SFG\/2018.shtml\">Baseball Reference<\/a> \u2013 Baseball Reference was used to collect the data used for this study.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Methodology<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To create this study, I first had to gather the data I needed and narrow down my parameters to the easiest form leading me to the Opening Day roster for 2018.\u00a0 From there I knew I wanted to examine the batting of this team to better see how they have changed over the year.\u00a0 I had been hoping to maybe see Veteran players being able to see the ball better and hopefully having more productive hits.\u00a0 I figure the best way to examine their hits were the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>How many at bats they had in a given year?<\/li>\n<li>How many RBI\u2019s (Runs Batted In) did they have in a given year?<\/li>\n<li>How far did they get on their hits (Single, Double, Triple, or Home Run)?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Results<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-10979\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/studentwork.prattsi.org\/infovis\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2018\/10\/Hits-By-Players-Per-Year.png?resize=208%2C300\" alt=\"\" width=\"208\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/studentwork.prattsi.org\/infovis\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2018\/10\/Hits-By-Players-Per-Year.png?resize=208%2C300&amp;ssl=1 208w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/studentwork.prattsi.org\/infovis\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2018\/10\/Hits-By-Players-Per-Year.png?resize=768%2C1107&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/studentwork.prattsi.org\/infovis\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2018\/10\/Hits-By-Players-Per-Year.png?resize=711%2C1024&amp;ssl=1 711w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/studentwork.prattsi.org\/infovis\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2018\/10\/Hits-By-Players-Per-Year.png?w=780&amp;ssl=1 780w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 208px) 100vw, 208px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>As can be seen with the following chart you can see that while some areas have stayed steady, such as the amount of triples (third base hits) or are constantly fluctuating such as the number of doubles (second base hits) over all the number if hits and home runs are both decreasing as a whole. \u00a0Obviously this causes an issues because while defense is a important in the sport, if it isn\u2019t being backed up by hits it remains useless.<\/p>\n<div class='tableauPlaceholder' id='viz1539198741494'><a href='#'><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" alt='Plate Appearances - Hunter Pence ' src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/public.tableau.com\/static\/images\/Bo\/BookSF\/PlateAppearances\/1_rss.png?w=840&#038;ssl=1\" style='border: none' \/><\/a>    <\/div>\n<p>                                    var divElement = document.getElementById(&#8216;viz1539198741494&#8217;);
