The Library of Congress Subject Headings (LCSH), one of the most widely used standardized subject languages in the world, is littered with hierarchical terms inherited from patriarchal Western knowledge systems such as the LCSH for <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Human Beings<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, formerly <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Man<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> up until Winter 1997. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">My project locates the vestiges of this former subject heading in the inadequate LCSH assigned to feminist sources that challenge patriarchal classifications of humans.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/docs.google.com\/presentation\/d\/1qPo6IohOoMob8w8uCZeN-MS-5c_DdoiFUCp5EofEij0\/edit?usp=sharing<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Standardized subject languages dictate the terms used by libraries in their organization of knowledge.
