Has it lost its purpose even if it still has a following?&nbsp; Sometimes, a piece of media has a change in function over time;&nbsp; once it may have been used to take photographs, but now it might be valued as a piece of nostalgia.&nbsp; How do we catalog these pieces of media in the face of new upgrades and rapid changing modes of technology? It can be easy to forget hardware that has lost value; but just as it is important to archive books <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">in forgotten languages, it is important to remember pieces of technology that have lost their current functionality and user base.&nbsp; Through research, we explore some of the unique challenges with archiving and preserving \u201cObsolete Media,\u201d and expand on the topics and questions raised above.&nbsp;<br><\/span><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Aisha Khan and Sam Irwin \u201cObsolete media&#8221; is a term with loose definition.&nbsp; How do we determine when media has become obsolete?
