In settlements for refugees and internally-displaced persons, where crowded conditions and poor sanitation can lead to faster spread of diseases, the pandemic has presented a serious threat.

In order to discover the best ways to confront this threat to public health, scientists and researchers created an artificial model of a refugee settlement in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh. Modeling individual interactions to predict the spread of COVID-19, the team tested what public health interventions would be most effective in stopping the spread.

To read more about this project and to download the scientific paper, please click here.

To assess the risks that COVID-19 poses to vulnerable populations, a team of researchers modeled the spread of the virus within a refugee camp in Bangladesh.
