One survivor is a former soldier suffering from post-traumatic stress. He is custodian of the New York Public Library\u2019s Schwarzman building. Because of his job, he is known as Dewey Decimal. He invents a \u201csystem\u201d to help him get through the day. Unofficially, Dewey is an assassin for hire. He travels through the City, hunting his prey.<\/p>\n<p>In this talk we will demonstrate a map (<a href=\"http:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/juYQM\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">http:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/juYQM<\/a>) we created illustrating the path traveled by Dewey. We will discuss how interactive mapping tools can be used to enhance literacy. Our map allows the reader to visualize Dewey\u2019s wanderings through the City and encourages the reader to learn more about the places he visits.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In this talk we will demonstrate a map illustrating the path traveled by the protagonist of the novel The Dewey Decimal System by Nathan Larson.
