The grant proposal is to establish the long term preservation of, and access to, films made by the British-American Tobacco Company (BAT) in early 20th century China.&nbsp;By employing aggressive advertising campaigns, and even more aggressive tactics against local rivals, BAT had placed itself at the forefront of the tobacco industry in Republican-era China. To cement its position, it opened a film department and began producing its own feature-length films.
