{"id":10126,"date":"2025-05-05T14:07:22","date_gmt":"2025-05-05T14:07:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/studentwork.prattsi.org\/infoshow\/?p=10126"},"modified":"2025-05-12T18:37:07","modified_gmt":"2025-05-12T18:37:07","slug":"visualizing-cognitive-health-data-viz-in-healthcare","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/studentwork.prattsi.org\/infoshow\/2025\/visualizing-cognitive-health-data-viz-in-healthcare","title":{"rendered":"Visualizing Cognitive Health: Data Viz in Healthcare"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Introduction<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Building on my final project from the&nbsp;<em>Information Visualization<\/em>&nbsp;class with Prof. William Geary, this project focuses on improving awareness and interpretation of the&nbsp;<strong>Addenbrooke\u2019s Cognitive Examination (ACE-III)<\/strong>, a 15\u201320 minute assessment used by doctors to evaluate cognitive health across five domains: <strong>attention, memory, fluency, language, and visuospatial skills.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a caregiver to a loved one with Alzheimer\u2019s, I\u2019ve experienced how difficult it can be to understand cognitive decline without accessible data. MRI scans and clinical evaluations are costly and infrequent, ACE-III offers a more practical, trackable alternative for regular check-ins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is the ACE-III test?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<strong>Addenbrooke\u2019s Cognitive Examination III (ACE-III)<\/strong>&nbsp;is a standardized cognitive screening tool commonly used to detect early signs of dementia or monitor changes in cognitive function over time.
