Designed collaboratively by indigenous groups and academic researchers, <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/mukurtu.org\/\">Mukurtu<\/a><\/strong> is a user-centered CMS intended to empower marginalized communities to designate terms of accessibility and reuse for their cultural heritage ephemera.&nbsp;<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because Western intellectual property laws determine indigenous materials to be accessible in the public domain, Mukurtu and its practitioners gives administrative access to indigenous communities to metadata fields for Protocol and Cultural Narrative. Within these metadata fields, users can assign <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/infomkrtu.wordpress.com\/2019\/05\/10\/traditional-knowledge-labels\/\">Traditional Knowledge (TK) Labels<\/a><\/strong> that designate terms of access for non-community users.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This website resource provides information regarding the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/infomkrtu.wordpress.com\/2019\/05\/10\/transforming-mukurtu\/\">grant-funded history<\/a><\/strong> of Mukurtu, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/infomkrtu.wordpress.com\/2019\/05\/10\/hubs-and-spokes\/\">further research<\/a><\/strong>, and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/infomkrtu.wordpress.com\/2019\/05\/10\/traditional-knowledge-labels\/\">TK Label instruction and application<\/a><\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p class=\"lead\">Serving as a Digital Humanities resource, the purpose of this WordPress site is to educate and inform a community of practitioners about the content management system Mukurtu.
