By Nene Villalobos
This project investigates the cultural and historical transformations of New York City through the lens of book arts exhibitions. It draws on the history of the Center for Book Arts and my attempts to connect with various historical NYC outlets as a primary data source. The outcome is a curated exhibition presented as a static web scroll, organized into thematic sections highlighting distinct decades from the 1970s. A key focus of the project is the integration of digital mediums to engage visitors, striking a balance between artistic interpretation and historical accuracy. The findings underscore that book arts serve as reflections of resilience and as dynamic tools for storytelling, weaving together personal narratives and collective histories.
