Marginalization in the Dewey Decimal Classification System
Presented by Heather V Hill & Megan Westman with Hilary Baribeau & Kevin Cosenza
This project explores the ways in which the DDCS fails to represent and/or support marginalized groups, using literature related to four communities: Muslims, indigenous populations, trans and intersex people, and children. The project explores issues with DDC and these communities through three factors: historical context, access, and authority/agency. This poster was created as the final project for LIS 653-01 Knowledge Organization in Spring of 2017.
